Components
Under the project name Sturmvogel, we developed our Z45-36. For the Sturmvogel we deviate from our usual nomenclature and do not use the inner width as the second digit (here 29mm), but instead the outer width – the width of the rim. With 35.5mm at the bead and 37mm at the centre, the Z45-36 offers perfect performance for all gravel racers who can manage with a 35mm wide tyre at the front. Our calculations show an aerodynamic advantage of 3–8 watts compared to 30mm wide gravel rims of the same height.
DT Swiss 240
The DT Swiss 240 combines low weight with high reliability. The Ratchet EXP® freehub system with 36 teeth ensures direct power transfer, while the increased bearing distance reduces bearing load. The tool-free removable end caps make maintenance and service straightforward.
Pillar Wing 20/21 Spokes
Aerodynamically shaped bladed spokes with an ovalized cross-section that reduce air resistance compared to conventional bladed spokes. They offer approximately 13–15% higher lateral stiffness compared to bladed spokes of equal weight.
Safety through Hooked Rim Design
The hooked rim construction mechanically secures the tyre bead in the rim bed and allows the use of a wide range of modern tubeless and clincher tyres. No restrictions due to hookless approvals. Maximum tyre compatibility with high operational safety.
